All about Me :)
The reason, I am sharing with you about myself and my experienced due,
many time people asked me many same questions so.. I am writing a little
story about my life and my experienced being modeling and more So you
can get know me a little better smile. I hope you will enjoy view these
photos and my story.
I am a formal model for almost 18 years as part time and I am a
professional photographer, when I was 10 yrs old that my sweet folks
gave me an old fashion camera and current I have an awesome tech
camera which I am spoiled to that toy lol. . I would like to share with you
about me. I grew up entirely deaf family. I born deaf. I learned sign when I
was very small girl. That's how I can communicated with my folks. I have
two deaf sisters. They graduated NTID in New York in few years ago. We
are very close family when I grew up. I love them because, they will be
there for each other and very communicated very high. First of all, I want
to say this, When I was four years old, I attended and grew up at Ohio
School for the Deaf in Columbus, Oh. I graduated from there in 1988. I
involved a lot of actives in OSD, I played basketball, volleyball,
cheerleader, track, Key club, GAA and more. I am a pretty good leader in
school. I did went to mainstream school, I never learn anything from there
and some teachers do not know sign or learn seven different books
which I did teach them right to sign, Image that! I am very knowledge of
(ASL) very well. I am very a stubborn girl when I grew up, today I am very
stronger and know what I am doing, also, I grew up I was in many barriers
being deafness. I am not accepting their barriers on me. Which I know I
can do it anything just expect can't hear. That's all that's not mean that I
cant do anything. Give me break! hee. I am very challenge person and
like work hard and being happy person. My life I know how handle with
positive way, think great things happened in my life no matter if there is
negatives. I can deal with it. I grew up in hard life. How the world treat me
sometimes. It was very not respect who am I, as you know.
When I was young, I was very tomboy which I love actives anything, I
become more older younger about I was 12 to 13 years old I become
more girl. I become more interested to read the magazine reading as
well. When I read them many times when I was young, I was wondering
where deaf model in that magazine or anything that deaf can be. I just
knew that deaf can do however hearing people do not give a shot with
deaf or hard of hearing models then I kept wondering, Some reason, I
determined to become model. I determined to keeping my goal about
being modeling. I just knew that it will be hard way with models field which
people did not want to give try to work with deaf model. I am telling you
that deaf or hard of hearing have wonderful face express and know how
to express their feeling by their faces, it s very easy to work with them. I
did not say that all of them but who want to be model. I have a wonderful
faces express. When they ask me to do. I know what they want. Deaf
people view more than hearing people . I am tell you truth, That is how
deaf people grow up with vision since we can't hear anything. Our priority
view are more important in our life time.
I determined to enter different competitions such like Most hot male and
female calendar in 1992, Tropical in 1991, One Abe Company for
calendar 1993, I determined to attend big competition in California in
1994. I attended to competition in Bikini Jam in California, placed 26th
place out of 266 contestants in the overall competition. Won the award
for the best eyes, fourth place as Mother of the Year, picked to be in the
group poster, picked for Bikini Team of 1994, picked as the First Ms Deaf
Swimwear Illustrated picked to be four models for shooting for the
Swimwear Illustrated magazine in Los Cabos 1995, After that I worked for
hair show a few times.

Etta took models and photographesr on trip since 1998 to 2006 (To help
models and photographer understand better about model style and
photographer work as well) Trip turned out awesome program for
everyone.
I had the honor of going to Los Cabos, Mexico to be photographed for
Swimwear Illustrated magazine. It was a great opportunity and since my
visit, I have been very fascinated by the beauty, the culture and the
education system in Mexico. I am always looking for a challenge. For
example, I recently created the 2007 -1998 for Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
I see now that the most important thing in life is for your mind to have
pleasure and to be open to anything. I love modeling and it had always
given me so much pleasure. I went these all competitions. The interpreter
had been there for me. I did help a lot that . I did not miss that much! I
learned many different people's option and what they want from models.
The reason, I went to different competitions The reason is that I had a
chance showing them how my talent and ability. They found that I am
deaf . They were shocked. They were impress with my talent on the
stage as well. I did won a few times. Proved them that I can be model
either deaf or not. Just look my talent and ability.
I did offer from three companies working as modeling for them. Such like
Dove ( soap) at Wall-mart in West VA, one day left for me to work with
them. They found out that I was deaf of course they were fear out real
bad. They called me that the plan is canceled . Break my heart. Same as
for Kool and Carmel companies same thing happened to me. Actually, it's
their loss.
I had been dream to established model school for deaf children and
adult. Somehow, my dream did come true. I established business called
Deaf Modeling competition and traveling. It isn't school but I already
stated Annual Deaf Modeling event. Now my business 's name is
changed. It is Etta Model Search. It was challenge for me set up the
competition same time I want to help them to promote their career that
field either model or photographer. Why I established this business, it's
for any one want to be model or photographer at the competition is good
place started or continue career. They can build up their conference,
stronger and know what they want to be (break ice) being fear. They can
learn from each other as well. I just knew that they can be great model or
photographer since they do have talent which any agency or any one did
not even really give a shot to work with them. They seem do not want to
improves with deaf people. It is odd? I did not mean that hearing issue
but agencies that hearing people who work there of course. I just told the
facts.. =) I guess that I typed too long. I hope you enjoy to read this. =)
